Service — Design
Design decides whether a visitor understands you in the first few seconds. Promiq Agency designs the structure, the interface and the visual language of your site — and hands over a working, responsive design rather than a flat picture of one.
What design actually decides
Design is usually mistaken for the colours and the logo. In practice it decides something much earlier: what a visitor reads first, what they read second, and how obvious the next step is. A site can be beautiful and still fail because nobody can tell what the business does or how to reach it.
So we start with order rather than appearance. Which question does this page answer? What does the visitor already know, and what do they still need before they are willing to get in touch? Once that sequence is settled the interface has something to be built around, and the visual choices start having a reason behind them.
What comes out is a design that works on a small screen on a weak connection, holds its shape as the content grows, and looks like it was made for your business rather than picked off a shelf.
Design and development are different jobs
A lot of agencies blur the two, which is why so many projects get expensive at the wrong moment. Design is where decisions are cheap: moving a section, cutting a page or rethinking the whole structure costs an afternoon. Once something is built, the same change costs a week.
So we treat design as its own phase, with its own deliverable and its own sign-off. You see the structure and the interface, and you steer them, before a line of production code exists. Once the design is settled we move into website development with the thinking already done.
Redesigning a site that no longer fits
Most redesigns we are asked about are not really about looks. The site is slow, it was built for desktop and never properly adapted, the content has grown in every direction, or nothing on it reflects what the business does today.
A redesign starts by working out which of those is the actual problem. Sometimes the structure is sound and the interface needs rebuilding. Sometimes the structure is the problem and a new coat of paint would change nothing. You get told which one you are looking at before any work is quoted.
Where a site already ranks for terms that matter, we keep the URLs, the headings and the content earning those positions, and redirect anything that has to move. A redesign should not cost you visibility you already have.
Design that search engines and screen readers can follow
A heading is not a font size. Getting the heading order right, labelling every form field, keeping enough contrast between text and background, and making sure the whole site can be operated from a keyboard are all design decisions — made while the layout is being made, not bolted on afterwards.
Those same decisions are what let a search engine understand a page and what let someone using a screen reader get through it. Accessible structure and crawlable structure are largely the same thing, which is a convenient overlap worth designing for deliberately.
What a design engagement covers
Scope is set per project. These are the pieces we design most often for businesses here.
Structure and page flow
Which pages exist, what each one is for, and the order a visitor should meet them in.
Wireframes
Layouts settled in plain blocks first, so the structure is agreed before styling distracts from it.
Interface design
The full visual design of every page and state — desktop, tablet and phone, not just the home page.
Design system
Type scale, colour, spacing and components defined once, so later pages stay consistent with the first.
Mobile-first layouts
Designed from the smallest screen upwards, because that is where most of your traffic will arrive.
UI/UX for products
Flows, screens and prototypes for dashboards, portals and apps where the interface carries real complexity.
Accessibility and contrast
Readable type, sufficient contrast, keyboard-reachable controls and a correct heading order throughout.
Motion design
Transitions that explain what changed on screen, kept restrained and honouring reduced-motion settings.
Redesign of an existing site
A new interface over a structure we audit first, leaving the pages and URLs that already perform intact.
How a design project runs
Four phases, each closing with something concrete to react to rather than a status update.
Brief
We go through your business, your audience and what the site has to achieve, and agree what counts as done.
Structure
Pages, order and content per page, delivered as wireframes you can read without imagining the styling.
Interface
The visual design across every breakpoint, with components defined so the site stays coherent as it grows.
Handover
Design files, component definitions and the notes a developer needs — or we build it ourselves from here.
Frequently asked questions about web design
What is the difference between web design and web development?
Design decides what the site contains, how it is ordered and how it looks. Development turns that into working code. We do both, but keep them as separate phases so you can approve the thinking before the building starts.
Can you design a site that someone else will build?
Yes. You get the full design across every breakpoint, the component and type definitions, and the notes your developer needs to build it faithfully. Plenty of clients then ask us to build it anyway, but that stays a separate decision.
Do you work from templates?
No. The structure is designed around your business and the interface is made for it. We do build an internal design system per project, which is why later pages stay consistent — but that system is yours, not a theme applied to you.
How many rounds of revisions are included?
Each phase ends with a review round, and the scope states how many are included before the project moves on. Settling the structure early is what keeps that number low, because the expensive changes are the ones that arrive after the interface is finished.
Will a redesign hurt my current Google rankings?
It can, if handled carelessly. Before redesigning we record which pages bring in traffic and which terms they rank for, keep those URLs where possible, and redirect the ones that have to move. Content that earns a position does not get thrown away for a cleaner layout.
Do you design in Dutch or in English?
The interface is designed around the language your audience actually uses, and the layout is tested with real copy in it rather than placeholder text. We decide that per site with you — mixing both inside one page is the one option we would push back on.
